Case Study: Investment Consulting Firm

<< previous | next >>

Challenge: How does an investment consulting firm that advises foundations and endowments on the appropriate selection and evaluation of money managers, then reports on their performance, directing over $30 billion in client assets, prepare itself for future growth by improving its strategy & upgrading its technology?

Action: Conducted a complete strategic analysis of the client's value proposition, compared it with the competition, and helped them refine to sharpen competitive focus. As a significant part of the effort, looked at how the firm utilized technology for reporting, money manager reconciliation, and communication with clients and its own consultants.

Result: A sharper competitive focus in type of client, specific asset classes and geographic regions, allowing the firm to maximize productivity of its most valuable resources, its experienced and expensive consultants and money manager analysts. New communication and money manager-selection technologies were analyzed and recommended, while the reporting and reconciliation process was streamlined.
